Getting the most out of find-dvd.co.uk
It’s easy to think that www.find-dvd.co.uk is just a handy DVD price comparison site but if you explore its navigation menu and sidebar you soon discover that it’s so much more.
As well as books, CDs, mobile phones, computer games and DVD Boxsets, you can search for US/Canada Region 1 DVDs too. Probably not as good as a US based price comparison site but a good starting point if you just want an idea if a particular title is available. And of course, to be able to watch the Region 1 DVDs you will need to have a Region 1 or a Multi-region player plus a TV capable of displaying the NTSC picture format. Good news though is that many cheap DVD players can play DVDs from anywhere in the world and most modern TVs, even my cheap Beko CRT set, can display the NTSC picture format.
But the three most useful features on the site must be the DVD Price Watch facility. Just sign up to the site, log in when you visit, and any time you find a DVD you like but isn’t cheap enough yet, just tell them what price you’d be interested in it in and if it reaches that price they’ll email you straight away.
Next is their PriceFriend browser add-ons for Firefox and IE. Download and install it and whenever you visit your favourite online stores, you should find it in the top, lefthand corner of your browser window waiting for you to click on it to reveal how the price of the item you’re viewing compares with that of their competitors.
Finally, there’s their Release Calendar which shows which DVDs are due for release on various dates in the coming weeks/months.
